Refrigeration Maintenance Tips

  • Check the settings on your unit to ensure that your temperature and defrost frequency are correct. If your temperature is set too low your system may be working too hard and ice may form on your food. If your temperature is not cool enough, your food could spoil.

  • Clean up spills timely on the inside and outside of your commercial refrigeration unit. We understand that doing this daily may be difficult in a fast paced commercial kitchen but it's a necessary daily action. Spills of foods or liquids in or around your refrigerator can lead to odors compromising your food and possible mold growth causing food loss.

  • Ensure adequate space inside and outside your commercial refrigerator in order to maximize performance. This will allow your unit not to work too hard to cool the food stored inside. One very important thing is to be sure that there are no obstructions that block your air intake and exhaust vents. This could cause refrigerator to use a lot more energy and shorten the life.

  • Maintain a consistent defrost schedule. Defrosting too often is creating unnecessary work for your refrigerator.

  • Check interior lights in your refrigerator to ensure that they are turning off when your door closes. Light generate heat which can cause your refrigerator to work harder than necessary.
